Neese vs Gortex
Vicky (NC) 10/15/2017 12:30 PM
I had the Neese-Tex and it soaked through after a few uses on an all-day walking route. A co-worker ordered me a Gore-tex and it worked better. However, after a few more uses in a steady rain all day the rain didn't roll off it. It didn't soak through but I was afraid it might so my husband sprayed it with the waterproof aerosol from Walmart. We do this every few months and have never had it soak through. It is also warm in the winter even if it isn't raining. Great to block wind as well. Hot in summer though.
Not as "waterproof" as I'd hoped

I carried in Las Vegas as well and I had the exact same experience as Jim from Las Vegas. Spend the extra money for the good stuff.
not happy about fit or materials

The sizing is weird and not true to average sizing. Unless you are six foot and weigh 300 pounds you should order nothing larger than a small. I am five foot seven and average build female. The large could have fit three people in it and the sleeves where at least four inches longer than the end of my hand. Even the small is too big but that is the smallest they offer. Also the lining is different than the old coats. It is black netting. And remember letter carriers aren't all men anymore. My office is one hundred percent female carriers. US Uniforms Comment: Thank you for sharing. Several years ago Neese made a change to the lining of the parka to improve the performance. The sizes are based on men's chest sizes and we know it can be trying for women to determine their size. That's one of the reasons we provide the size/chest measurements for the rainwear. We will share the need for more women specific choices to the manufacuturers.

Go to Target or even WallyWorld & see what you can get for less than $50. A whole waterproof rainsuit that actually keeps you dry. These 'union' clothes are the biggest ripoff. I swear a newspaper will keep you drier than these raingear.

Not a very good product for the money. In a steady light rain, I am wet inside this raincoat in 45 minutes. Maybe Gore-Tex works better?

Last time it rained significantly here, water soaked through this "waterproof" parka and got my shirt wet one hour into the day. I will shell out the big allotment dollars for the Gore-Tex next time.
