I've been wearing these shoes for about 8-10 years now. They are really comfortable and waterproof. I always buy two pair with my allowance. Being that I'm a ARMY veteran they shine (polish) very nicely also. I am a completely satisfied customer.

Zero grip. You will slip on just about any wet or slick surface. Would be nice if they could make a boot with the vibram sole. Good for summer, but who wants to wear boots in the summer, winter....forget it unless you have cleats on.

I carried mail for 8 years and when I first switched to these shoes after wearing New Balance referee hightops, the first few loops in the morning I would ALWAYS catch my toe and trip on stairs because the sole is so deep. Was a rough way to wake up.
On the street I'd have to give them a 5/10 because it was hard to feel tactile awareness of your walking surface.
Even though I wore 2 pair out, after the $100 reality of the first pair, I found I could get 2 pair of good, supportive, hi-top court shoes at Kohl's that had the "walking surface connection" feel I preferred for the same cash.
The second pair I snagged with my last bit of carrier allowance before I went into maintenance, and they stayed in my closet for a year before I dug them out and started wearing them, again catching my toe, this time on polished concrete floors. I won't part with another Franklin for these again.
"Relatively" comfortable >> clodhoppers <<.

Depending on the day and overtime I walk about 12 miles a day and these have been the best shoes I have found for me. Walking that much everyday will wear out a pair of shoes, I've found having multiple pair and wearing a differnt pair every day and keeping them polished helps to make them last longer.

In my 15 years as a letter carrier, I have worn this particular style for over 10 years and have found it the best pair of work boots. I usually buy 2 pair at a time and rotate them. They are pretty comfortable and seem to provide pretty good protection in wet weather. I will continue to buy these for as long as they offer them.
