Best postal item I have purchased
Eric Hannan (Springdale, AR) 2/22/2018 7:18 PM
Exceptionally warm and comfortable coat. Fit is excellent but note: I do buy all postal jackets 1 size larger than street clothes, and Long length for better roominess, and coverage. I do not even zip the heavy weight jacket if the temp is over 28 deg. or I roast (no matter how windy)! So no zipper issues for me yet. Single digit weather plenty warm with only postal shirt and base layer. 5 objective cons: no hood attachment; somewhat bulky; exterior fabric could be sturdier (a heavier denier) but no tears yet; sleeves are not fabric lined so if you are not wearing a base layer and there is the slightest hint of humidity present you will get that clamminess/clinginess on your arms; zipper seams decent but should be YKK. But man am I happy with this purchase!!

Decent Jacket - Awful Zipper
Neil KENDALL (Northwood, NH) 1/3/2018 6:27 AM
I purchased this jacket for the cold winters in New Hampshire. It does a decent job of keeping me warm, but the zipper that it comes with is the worst. I would zip it up and the bottom would become undone and unzip up toward the top. I had to remove the existing zipper and have my wife sew in a zipper we bought from a retail store. Also, because it said it was part of the AWG system, I bought the AWG hood thinking the two would attach to each other, but this jacket does not have any buttons along the collar to attach the hood to. Editors Comment: The AWG hood 112431 snaps to the Parka 112427.

Great Jacket, Not-So-Great Zipper
Josh (Topeka, KS) 3/25/2015 10:03 AM
I've had this jacket for 2 years, as well as the Mid-Weight version (4 years), both zippers have developed a wide gap while being zipped up. Various other carriers in my office have experienced the same issue with these zippers and have had the zippers replaced by a tailor. The average life of the zipper is around 2 years before it ceases to work properly. I had actually bought this jacket to replace the Mid-Weight one when it's zipper started to gap. I'm likely going to bring both jackets to the tailor my co-workers have recommended to have the zippers replaced with more durable ones. The jacket is very warm, provides ample protection from the elements, and the exterior of the jacket has held up well against wear and tear of the job, the only downside is when the zipper malfunctions.
